Principal News

Dear Parents,
Welcome back to the final term for the 2022 school year. It is wonderful we are back into a regular school year and able to do all of the Term 4 activities including Prep and 1/2 swimming, 3-6 Bike Ed, Colour Run, Christmas activities and many other engaging activities.
Even as we approach the end of the year, we continue to have a high focus on learning and ensuring every student reaches their full potential and the highest academic standard possible. We look forward to working alongside you to make this our best term yet.
God bless,
Jason Micallef,
Principal
STEM 3/4 level
Grade 3 and 4 students have been busy learning about the unique adaptations that different animals have.
They were given the task to design and build their own unique animal with its own adaptation. They planned their design on paper, built their creature using cardboard, paper, cups and foam and then they decorated the creature's habitat.
Here are some students pictured with their creation in its habitat.

Student Placement 2023
One of the important tasks we will undertake very shortly is the creation of 2023 class lists. This is a very complex yet important task as we aim to create well balanced communities of learning.
Some of the factors considered when allocating students to classes include:
(a) Balanced number of boys and girls
(b) Even distribution of academic needs
(c) Social compatibility (avoiding potential conflicts between individuals or groups of students)
(f) Students with particular learning needs or behavioural concerns
(g) Varying degrees of independence and maturity
(h) The separation of twins and other siblings.
In essence, we take this task very seriously and take the time to discuss every single student's needs before they are placed. So we ask that parents please trust the school’s judgement and professionalism in making a decision that is in each child’s best interest.
Parents can help us in this endeavour by communicating any relevant information that might help us to achieve our intention to create balanced learning groups. If this is the case, please contact Mr Micallef by email, no later than by Tuesday November 1st to share what you know. Please note that this is not an opportunity to make requests for where a child is to be placed. Rather, we would appreciate information that might help us to make the decision.
Now hiring for 2023!

Drop off and pickup reminders

Morning Drop Off
Time: 8:40am onwards for all students.
Parking: Parents may park in the main carpark and walk their children into the school gates.
Kiss and go: Parents may drive into the round-about drive through and drop children off in front of the church.
After School Pick Up
Time: School ends for all students at 3:30pm
Parking: Parents may park in the main carpark and walk into the school to collect your child. No children are permitted to walk to parked cars without an adult.
Drive by: At present, no drive by is available to pick children up.
Hot Tip! In an attempt to be safe and reduce congestion in the car park after school:
- Front Carpark: Parents are to park their car in the allocated parking spots and escort their child/ren to their cars, using the crossing in front of the office.
- Parish house: It is not a drop off or collection area EXCEPT for Community buses. Drop off and collection behind the parish house is not permitted.
- Exiting on Edey’s Run: One of the biggest causes of traffic congestion in the carpark is when cars bank up on Edey’s Run as people wait for a chance to turn onto Hallam Road. To avoid this, we ask that all families turn right onto Edey’s Run when the supervising teacher directs you to. This will ensure traffic continues to flow and eliminate congestion.
To get back to Hallam Road after exiting the carpark – Turn right onto Edey’s Run. Continue to the round-about at the end of the road and turn left onto Coral Drive. Continue on Coral Drive until you reach the traffic light intersection at Hallam Road.
You can collect your children from the following locations:
- Outside the hall - Prep, One and Two children WITHOUT brothers and sisters at the school
- Undercover outside the library - Three, Four, Five and Six children WITHOUT brothers and sisters
- Outside the 3/4 area - Children with siblings (all grades)
Best time to drop off at school
Please do not leave your children at school before 8:40am as there are no teachers on duty to ensure children's safety.
What to do if you are running late to pick up children
If it looks like you will arrive at school after 3:45pm, please call the school office to let us know.
Colour Fun Run

It's on MONDAY!
What should my child wear to school on Monday 10th October?
- A white or light coloured t shirt and shorts/pants (something you don’t mind possibly changing colours permanently!)
- Sneakers
- Hat
- Always remember to Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek and Slide!
What should my child bring to the event?
A few things you should pack are:
- A Water Bottle
- Hat
- Sunscreen
- A Towel / garbage bag to sit on in the car
- Snacks
- Sunglasses (if preferred)
Are you Fundraising?
Currently we have 206 students with profiles and we need everyone to pull together to help. The easiest way to help your child raise money is through online fundraising, where students raise an average of $120. Go to schoolfunrun.com.au, create a student profile page and share your online fundraising link via SMS, Email and Social Media.
If you are currently fundraising, THANK YOU! We hope you will continue to share your link and fundraising for the school.
What time does it all happen?
Parents are welcome to come along and watch. Please park in the first four rows of the car park or on a side street if the main gate is closed.

Second-hand Uniform

Our second-hand uniform stall will be open each Tuesday afternoon from 3pm and Friday morning from 8:45am. There may also be other times, just look out for the big yellow "Uniform Stall Open" out the front of the office.
If you have items you would like to be sold, the PFA take a small fee of $5 per item out of the sale price. Please place your items in a bag with a list, your name and contact details inside. These can be dropped off at the stall ready for processing. Only items in good condition are accepted: no broken zips, holes or dirty items will be sold. When the items are sold and the payment is ready for collection, one of our PFA volunteers will let you know.
