No 22. Term 4 Week 11, 14th December 2022
Principal's News

Today is our final newsletter for 2022 and we take the time to celebrate all of the wonderful achievements throughout the school year. We have remained focussed in 2022 on the high educational standards we are so proud of at St. Kevin’s and on keeping things as consistent as possible to allow students to get back into a school routine after a few interrupted years.
Our vision of learning together in a welcoming and inclusive faith community guides all that we do as we strive to ensure our students make meaning of the world around them, know and understand themselves and feel passionate and motivated to take action and put all of their wonderful learning into practice.
Thank you to our dedicated staff for all that you have done over the year. I am proud to call them my colleagues and see how committed they are to ensuring the best learning and teaching occurs for all of our children every day. It is a privilege to work alongside such a committed and talented team of educators. A special thanks to my wonderful leadership team - Belinda Rowlands and Rebecca Gage our Deputies along with Koula Kydas, Donna Petkovic, Erica Talia, Dette Dawson and Caitin McLeod our level leaders. Your work and dedication are second to none and I appreciate all that you do to assist me in leading our school.
Thank you to our wonderful parents for working in partnership and for all of your help and support. It does take a village to raise a child and we have a truly sensational village to do this in. We could not be more appreciative of our parents in 2022 for working in partnership with us.
A special mention to our wonderful School Advisory Committee. They are a magnificent team who lead our parent group ensuring there is parent voice and involvement in the school. Also our Parents & Friends Association who have done the most amazing job of fund-raising and even more importantly, friend-raising!
Thank you and congratulations to our children – we are blessed with magnificent children who inspire us all on a daily basis.
Of course, we also farewell the Graduating class of 2022. I congratulate our Year 6 graduates and thank them for the wonderful contribution they have made to our school community. I trust they will take the St. Kevin’s spirit with them and always know they are a valuable part of our school community. We have had a magnificent group of Year 6 students who have continued to shine in their leadership roles whether at school or beyond.
We have a number of families with their youngest child graduating from St. Kevin's after a long association with the school. We thank those families for all you have done throughout the years and hope you have many wonderful memories to take with you.
We also farewell Carol Williams and Karen Mackay who begin their well deserved retirement. Vanessa Buttigieg and Caitlin McLeod who are moving on to new and exciting adventures and Coralee Brobyn, who will be commencing parental leave and enjoying a new addition to her family. I congratulate them all on their new directions.
I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of our wonderful school in 2022 and look forward to all that we can create together in partnership to ensure every student in our school shines, grows and flourishes.
The following details outline how and when school commences in 2023 for all students:
- Prep Meet & Greet with teachers on Monday January 30 and then start school on Tuesday January 31 (half day).
- Year 1-6 Testing Days (by appointment) on Monday Jan 30 and Tuesday Jan 31. Year 1-6 then start full days of school from Wednesday February 1st.
Have a happy, peaceful and safe Christmas with your family and friends and I look forward to continuing on our journey together in 2023.
God bless.

Congratulations Class of 2022

This week we honoured our grade 6 children and their families as we said farewell and good luck as they begin their next stage of formal schooling in 2023. It is both sad and satisfying to see our most senior students finish their time with us. They are an amazing group of children and we wish them all the very best. We thank our staff and parents who worked together to make their final moments of primary school as special as they could be.

Graduation Celebrations

Carols by Sunlight
What a marvellous thing it is to have the tradition of Carols by Sunlight return to St Kevin's. Held over two mornings last week, this parent favourite event didn't disappoint.

Prep Christmas Nativity
A highlight of our year is seeing the Preps share with their families the reason for the season. The true story of Christmas. What a joy it is to behold just how far these incredible little people have come in a year.

Parents & Friends

Our ever-supportive Parents and Friends have worked hard behind the scenes to organise and coordinate a wide variety of events throughout the year. These successful events: Hot Cross Buns, Easter raffle, Mother’s Day stall and raffle, Father’s Day stall, Footy Colours day, Scholastic Book Club, our first ever Colour Fun Run, second-hand uniform stall, and Christmas Tarts, have raised over $14000 in 2022.
This would not have been possible without the support of Ania, Anu, Audine, Ayk, Carla, Carol, Caryn, Geraldine, Janice, Jatinder, Jean, Jo, Katharine, Kathryn, Kim, Koreti, Lani, Lydia, Ma Merced, Mandy, Marlo, Mary, Melissa, Menaka, Monica, Nancy, Natalie, Rosebelle, Rozanne, Samangi, Shanika and Veronique. On behalf of the students who benefit from the money you have raised, THANK YOU! We couldn't have done it without you. You have made yourselves available, supported us, made new friends and had fun along the way.
St. Kevin's graduate becomes an author
Class of 2021 student Amasha, has just become a published author. Her book, James the Little Rock Star is an amazing feel good story we encourage everyone to read. We will have copies available for loan in the library in 2023 but if you would like to purchase a copy of your own, you can contact Shanika (Amasha's mum) by email shani.diss25@gmail.com. All proceeds will be donated to charity.
Congratulations to Amasha on such a wonderful acheievement!

We will miss you
We are going to miss these amazing kids but we wish you all a blessed and joyful Christmas and peaceful rest before coming back in 2023 for an even bigger and better year.
