No 11. Term 3 Week 1, 14th July 2023
Principal's News

Dear friends and families,
As we reach the end of our first week back for Term 3, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the incredible strength, compassion, and unity that has been displayed within our school community.
This week, we honoured the memory of our beloved James in various ways. We came together as a community to support his family, friends, classmates and staff during this challenging time. The funeral service was a heartfelt tribute, and we are grateful to the families who picked their children up early allowing staff and families to attend, demonstrating their unwavering support.
It has been truly humbling to witness the strength of our community and the outpouring of love and care for one another. We are blessed to be part of a supportive community that rallies together in times of sorrow.
As we move forward, I want to assure you that we will not forget James and the need for supporting members of our community through this time of grief, will need us all to continue to support each other. Offering a listening ear, a comforting presence, and a shoulder to lean on. If any member of our community needs support, please do not hesitate to reach out. We are here for you.
In moments of darkness, let us draw strength from our faith, knowing that we are not alone in our grief. Together, we will navigate this journey, finding solace and comfort in our shared love and support.
Once again, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. Your resilience and kindness have touched my heart and reaffirmed the incredible strength of our school community.
Wishing you a weekend filled with peace, love, and gratitude.
God bless.
Jason Micallef,
Principal
"Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
Matthew 11:28-30
Help us support the Buslon family
Our St. Kevin's school community remembers James' contagious smile that could brighten the gloomiest of days and a spirit that touched the lives of everyone he encountered. During this difficult time, we want to extend our support and comfort to James' family. As a united community, let's now come together to alleviate some of the additional stress that his family is facing during this period of grief.

Honouring and Remembering James
Throughout this week, we have adorned our gates with yellow ribbons, symbolizing unity and the vibrant spirit that James brought to our community. Our students, teachers, and staff have shared heartfelt stories, cherished memories, and messages of love, creating a tapestry of love and remembrance.
We held moving memorial liturgies in classrooms and participated in joyful 'bubble ceremonies' where we reflected on James's remarkable spirit and the joy he brought to our lives.
It is safe to say that James will certainly live on in our hearts and his spirit will guide us as we navigate the days ahead, reminding us to appreciate every precious moment and hold onto the bonds that unite us.

First Communion this weekend
Please keep in your prayers Grade Four students who are currently preparing to receive the Sacrament of Eucharist for the first time. The celebration will go ahead Saturday July 15 at the 5pm and 7pm Masses. All students, families and extended families from our school are invited to come along to show their support.

Exciting News!!!

We're delighted to announce that our wonderful Deputy Principal, Belinda Rowlands, is expecting! Let's shower her with love and support as she embarks on this incredible journey. Congratulations, Belinda, and best wishes for a healthy and joyous pregnancy!
NAPLAN
NAPLAN 2023 reporting packages will be delivered to schools next week and will include a printed Individual Student Report for each student who participated in NAPLAN in 2023. These will be distributed to parents with an accompanying brochure explaining how to read the report. Below is a short video that parents can also use to help them understand how to read the report. As always, we remind parents that NAPLAN is a snapshot in time and is focused on only part of the curriculum. For a comprehensive picture of how children are growing and developing, parents should consult with their child's teacher.
Wonder Recyling Rewards for Schools

Thankyou to all families who collected their bread bags over the last term and placed them in our Wonder Recyling Boxes.
This program has now finished and our boxes are full ready to be sent off. We will then be able to exchange our points for sports equipment later in the year!!
Notification of Student Absence

Keeping accurate records of student attendance at school is incredibly important. Therefore, if children are sick or unable to attend school for other appropriate reasons, we need parents and carers to notify us so that we know that your child is absent and the reason why.
The ways to notify us of your child's absence:
- SZAPP (The best way)
